    Hey guys,

I been slowly putting all the pieces together to change my haunt over to using DMX. I have laid out a diagram to show how everything should be connected. Anyone with DMX/pneumatic experience chime in and let me know if everything looks correct?

Also, does anyone have experience with using DMXorcist and motion sensor triggers? I have one I got from Monster Guts but I want to make sure it will work correctly with DMXorcist as Skulltronix says to use a Dry Contact Sensors only.

This is the PIR I have: http://www.riscogroup.com/Products.a...oid=65&funid=1

    Phantom Hollow - Layout - 2010

    Thanks!

That looks awesome, Jimmyzdc! I am starting to get into DMX control and I was wondering...what is the DMX Relay pack for? If you have DMX Software running on the computer and the Entec USB-to-DMX converter box, what does the relay pack add?

It offers a way to plug in a device so that it can be controlled via dmx to turn on or off. I have a dimmer pack but use it as a relay to turn my air valve on for pneumatics. I give it an address, program it in vsa to turn on when I need it to and off. You could do the same with lights that are not DMX or any non dmx device you would like to turn on and off. I hope this helps.

How long ago did you purchase the DMXorcist? I am still trying to get in touch with Phoenix.

Looks good. Always wanted to go DMX. Have the relay pack and Open Entec never fooled around with it. How much is DMXexorcist anyway? Can you add sound to every prop via DMX? I have 11 pneumatics this year and would love a cheaper way to run them all. 11 keybangers add up fast. The only thing a hate about the picoboos is the audio being 8bit. Would love to add .wav uncompressed audio to them.

I got DMXorcist earlier this year before I knew that VSA would control DMX devices. I tried to use Exorcist a few years ago because VSA at the time wouldn't play 7.1 audio files. Oh my, I would never have figured out how to make Exorcist work on my own. I was very lucky to get a hold of Phoenix on MSN chat and he helped me configure it to do what I needed.

I haven't tried to do anything with DMXorcist but the day will likely come when I'll need to because this year we are using almost all of the 128 channels available in VSA and if we add more stuff next year I'll have to figure out how to run multiple VSA files and controller boards.

OK glad I'm on the right track. Anyone have any idea on the trigger part?

    Thanks

I haven't used a motion trigger yet. I have used floor mats and they work perfectly if that's any help.

Your diagram is killer. Two small things that you may already have but want to make sure: Do you have a 5-pin to 3-pin DMX adapter (the Enttec has a 5 pin DMX out). Also, is the USB hub powered? My Enttec works intermittently if it's not, so that's important.

Yup, got the adapter for 5-pin to 3-pin. The hub will be powered. The diagram is off I should have the USB cable for the Enttec coming from the USB Hub.

I just double checked the PIR and it does say the alarm trigger is a NC dry contact relay so I guess I'm good there with the DMXorcist.

Just ordered the DMX Relay Pack today so I think the only thing I'm waiting on is my new R/P skull from GYS. Hopefully it will get here within the next week and I need to still order the DMX boards for my skulls.

I'm really starting to feel the pressure of running out of time. Not sure if I will get everything done for the big day but at least I will have everything I need for next year.
