Someone had suggested getting one of these for prop security. I bought 2 today from Harbor Freight and they work wonderfully. I plan on mounting one on each corner post of my cemetery and in the off season to protect our car. They work up to 400 feet away but I really couldn't test that out
They are $14.99 and there are always 20% off coupons in the paper to use.

They do work! I have used some window alarms that I actually found at my local 99 cent store. They were cheap yet made noise if removed from the props detachable base(only used on costly props though). Never had one sound off yet, I'd better knock on wood! lol!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

They DO work!!! I installed one of them last year and it didn't pay off until two weeks ago. I caught some guys breaking into my neighbor's car, chased them and called the police. They were caught after they tried to hide in the woods. Now they have to face Lady Justice!

I plan to buy a couple more to guard over my props.

How exactly does it work? Is it a motion sensor? I am not too concerned about theft (although it could happen) but am worried about vandalism if I put my props out too early.

Yes it is motion sensored and according to the reviews on Harbor Freight's website the batteries last a long time. They run on 1 9v and 3 c's.
I have no clue what kind of break-in's/thefts we get around here because my town doesn't get any news reports in the paper so I wanted to just be prepared and these are an inexpensive fix!

I installed one of those motion detector flood lights (over my garage) and put a "fake" security camera up that I picked up for like 3 bucks. I have never had a problem, but I was told to do this by a friend who works for a security company and he said that in spite of being so inexpensive the combo are incredibly effective.

The Alarms sound like a good idea but I would assume they are hard to hear from inside your house, and if you can hear them from in your house then your neighbors could hear it aswell. I don't need to make enemies of my neighborhood because an alley cat strays into my yard at 2 am.

I like the idea of the alarms - they could be used for letting you know TOT's are coming, or could be used near an expensive prop you want to protect... Fake security cameras are very cheap for protecting props, also.

People ignore alarms, and you shouldn't use them for anything other than a notification for yourself :X
