    Hey,

I'm working on a chain cemetery fence. It's 50x30 so it's got 32 posts at 5' intervals. I've been trying to find toppers for the posts and discovered that the
round coke bottles that came out for world cup were perfect size.

I've scoured the net looking for someone selling some, and it appears every one seems to think a round plastic bottle of coke is a collectors item, despite the fact that they've issued them a number of times. Most want $5 or $10 for 2 of them.

Anyone know where to find these bottles? I'd prefer them empty.
Barring that I will need a decent source of 4" spheres with a thick wall that will hold a screw.

Most of the plastic spheres I saw online were thin walled, transparent and cost around $7 a piece. Needless to say that will break my budget.

    Thanks for the info.

Maybe you could make your own. Make a mold of one you have already, using plaster of paris mixed with baking flour. That will give you a clay-like consistency. Once you have the mold, make copies using the same method. I use a brushed-on layer of soapy water to act a a mold release.

BTW: mix your plaster as normal (add handfuls of plaster to the water until it looks like a dry lake bed...DO NOT STIR! let stand for about 5 mins., then gently mix with your hands.)
Now start adding handfuls of flour until the plaster takes on a clay-like consistency.
Take out blobs of "clay" and knead as you go. You can dip your hands in water to smooth the surface of your work.

Dunno if that's of any use to you, but there it is anyway.

The plastic Coke bottles with Santa on them are seasonal but unless the have a date on them, or commemorate a special event, I don't think they are collectors items.

Having a background in scratch building plastic models I know exectly what your talking about and where to find some.

These are SPORTASTIC sports drink 12 oz. plastic bottles from Wal-Mart. They are the same as the Coke bottles with a different lable. They are found in the soda isle and cost a whopping....wait for it....2 for $2. HOWEVER, they have a plastic strip that holds two at a time so you'll get 4 spheres for $2. Thats .50 a piece..SCORE!!

They have a plastic wrap on them resembling a ball ( soccer ball, baseball, basketball etc) that can be easily peeld off. Outside of the cost the next best part is they only have 4 grams of sugar and 15 calories per 12 oz. A great thirst quencher for those long days of cemetary fence building. Hope this helps.
