Hey guys! Okay, I finally found a few hours today to redo some of my tombstones from last year. Last year all of my tombstones were pretty basic. No cracks, no moss, and very little aging techniques were done with the paint. Pretty much just rectangular painted foam with engravings. All of them except two were the basic rectangle shape.

All of the aging, wheathering, and reshaping you see on the tombstones were done today (except for the Caleb "Babyface" Comer stone).

I'm posting these because I want to get y'alls opinion on them. I still have to add the moss, and I'm not sure if I want to mess with Caleb "Babyface" Comer's tombstone at all.

Criticism and advice are welcomed. . Here are my stones:

Here Lies the Terror of Three Counties Caleb "Babyface" Comer
    (Hubby's Tombstone)

James Hetfield A Body Lies but Still I Roam

    Here Lies Lauren Smart
    (My Tombstone)

Rambo Remember kids, once you pull the pin, Mr. Grenade is no longer your friend.

Can't wait to here what you guys think! By the way, if the pictures aren't showing for some reason, let me know.

    Thanks!

Those look awesome! I like the aging. And no, I wouldn't mess with Babyface's at all. Looks great how it is! I love how you got the letters to run.

they look great how did you do the rose? Did you use stencils and how did you score them out with a knife or a hot tool?

Thanks for all the encouragement, guys! I really didn't expect such positive feedback.

I think you're right, Lisa. Probably the most I'll do to it is rough the edges up and put a few thin, short cracks here and there. Thanks for the input!

The rose was a stencil I found online and printed out. I taped it onto the tombstone and trace over it with a pencil. Once I removed the tape and lifted the paper there was an indent in the foam where I traced the image. I went over that with a permanent marker to make it more visible. After that I just carved it out with a Dremel.

The cracks I did with a butter knife. Not kidding. A butter knife. I just used the edge to scrape off some of the paint in one or two areas. Then I used it to carve some depressions and carved out the cracks leading away from them. I followed that up with a grill lighter, and lightly skimmed over the exposed foam where the cracks and depressions were. Finally I just took some flat black spray paint to the cracks and used a wet paper towel to wipe away the excess.

Don't freak if you can't wipe off all the spray paint outside the cracks/depressions. You won't be able to get it all, but get as much as you can off. Then all you do is get a dry paint brush and rapidly dab and tap on some white latex paint.

That's it. Forewarning though, when you're wiping off the excess spray paint, do NOT wear any jewelry. You WILL get the paint on your hands unless you're wearing gloves. If you're like me though, and hate having to wear them, make sure your hands are nekked.

Thanks again guys for all the great feedback! Can't wait to hear more! *Hint, hint.*

Oh my! ... for some reason, I never had you pegged as a Metallica fan! But then again, I never knew my Mom used to wear leather pants until I found some in her closet recently... *Ahem...* Anyway...

Thanks for the compliments, Cathy! It really means a lot coming from you. You really do have some of the best tombstones I've seen on here, so your compliment makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside... .
