I have used it to create motion for most of my props. It has all sorts of different ways to create motion using motors. Hope this helps."CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT YOU KNOW..." "I KNOW"

You didn't mention if you had a budget limit.
I made a flying ghost last year that operated on a similar principle to what you want to do. I used a wiper motor controlled by a prop-1 to drop/lift the ghost after triggering. This set up modified for horizontal operation would work the same way with your forward/reverse clown. Doing your project this way would require some $ investment in a couple of controller parts and willingness to work with motors and controllers, but you get what you pay for, right?
I don't have a tut for this but I could provide detailed info if you're interested. Good luck with your prop.Nostalgia isn't what it used to be...

Skullboy has the best idea for that lenght of travel, you could put limit switches at each end of the track and that would reverse the motor.

in your scare room behind the wall connect a black pipe to the seat. fix the front wheel so it cant go to either side and just have someone push it out and back. 4 feet of pvc is about 3 or 4 bucks and spray it black with paint. simple and effective i do it foe our wheel chair. being run by a someone the timing is gonna be right and you can stop it and do different patterns than just forward the back.
