I saw one of these without the mat and remote at the local goodwill for like $5 i think. Would you pick it up? I can think of a couple possible uses like a witches cauldron bubbler and such.. thoughts on usage?

you said that you don't have the remote for it. can you set it manually on the device without the remote, or would you have to hack it?
even if you do have to hack it, i'd say go for it. for something that can be used in a multitude of ways, $5 is a good price.
as for what to do with it, you could use it to move and rustle some curtains inside the house that can be seen from outside. or maybe put a smaller hose on it, add a motion sensor or pressure matt and VIOLA! you have a startling effect that'll blow air on people. OR you could use it for some fake flames or something. i'm not sure how much air these things put out, but if you have concerns about buying it, then that should be your top consideration.
those are just some of my thoughts on what you could use it for, but i like the idea of using it to bubble a witches cauldron. let us know what you decide to do!
Good luck!

Personally I would just go with a couple fish tank bubblers. They are pretty cheap on craigslist and at goodwill.
