Has anyone made a pop up prop without the use of air? I don't even own a compressor, so that's out for this year, but would like to make at least one pop up, and maybe something that lunges.

Windshield wiper motor could work for you. Although the movement is constant and very "fixed" when constantly on. Hook it to a timer and have it stop on the upward motion, then on the downward.

I made this prop using a solenoid and a spring:

Wiper motors are suppose to be waterproof. As for timimng, why couldn't you hack the delay from the car? They are set for one rotation every so many seconds. On my car it is from 15 down to 2 seconds. Just a thought.

K, good stuff, I have an idea. Somewhere on this site I've seen a link that shows different gear setups, that give different movements from a fixed motor(if that makes any sense). If anyone can find that it would be helpful.
