So I've decided to upgrade my graveyard this year with some new thicker tombstones. Only problem is, I can't find any thick foam. I'm wanting them to be around 2" thick put the pink foam I always use only come in 3/4" thick sheets. Now I've seen people with 2" thick tombstones before so I know there's something out there for me. I went to Home Depot and the only foam they had that was 2" thick was this stuff:
WHAT SHOULD I DO!!! Should I get the white stuff or should I stick 2 pink ones together?

Actually some people on here take two pieces, put grooves in to stick PVC pipe in, stick the pieces together with the pvc pipe inserted. Get some rebar or something similar stuck into the ground the set the tombstone onto the ground with the rebar going into the pvc pipe. Now its anchored. So really either one. I prefer the pink foamboard myself.

I always just glue the foam together to make thicker sheets where needed. Its even sometimes cheaper than buying one thick piece of foam also as sometimes the price jump for the thick stuff is crazy. I have used liquid nails and great stuff foam before to glue foam together but everyone has different preferences and I am sure there are some better glues out there, I know the hot wire foam cutting place has some glue for foam specifically but have no experience with this so maybe if anyone else has used it or has had good luck with other glue methods they could mention something.

Just glue the pink or blue stuff. I have many times and it works just fine. Use the tubes of glue that are designed for foam board. Its at Home Depot or Lowes where you find caulk.
Its so nice to be insane, no one asks you to explain...

PL300 foamboard adhesive works well. You can save some cash by glueing the thinner pink foam to the thicker white, giving you a carvable sandable surface for the front and thickness to the back and sides for realism http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...29&marketID=21

You will save money buying a sheet of the white bead to embed your PVC into, then glue a sheet of 1/2 or 3/4 inch pink/blue for your detail.
We don't even have the 2 inch white here, but we do have 1 inch - so I take 1 inch white and glue 3/4 inch pink to it and they come out perfect for me.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think I'll glue one pink one to the one white one since that would give me the thickness I want and still let me carve my details onto the pink ones. It ends up being $5 more in total but thats fine. Oh, and I'll definitely be doing the PVC in the middle since that's just completely genius!

Where can you get the blue or pink stuff in Kaleefornia? All my local Central Valley Lowes and HDs carry only white.

Another source for foam that can be used for tombstones is you local hot tub dealer. Stop by and see if they have any old hot tub covers they are going to be throwing away.
