The Dollar Tree (At least in Pensacola Fl) is starting to move in Halloween stuff. I picked up some cheap severed hands and feet today. Not great looking, but for $1.00 I think I can find something to use them for.

a lot of people buy cheap $1 props and they hack/cheat them, you can allways add more to the prop to make it much more realistic.

I just got some tombstones, crows and skulls which I will "fix". Actually I'm done with the Tombstones. I love Dollar Tree except for it seems like I can't get out of there for under $30.

i picked some of those up last year myself... soon afterwards, i took a trip to Spirit Halloween and saw some body parts put on those thin styrofoam boards wrapped with plastic, like you would see chicken or steak packaged at the grocery store.

I applied that idea to the severed hands and feet i got at the dollar tree. Just saved a couple of those styrofoam packaging boards and put the hands/feet on them. then i wrapped it in cling-wrap...

i'm thinking of adding a little milk & water mixture with red dye inside the "meat" packages this year... maybe you could do that...

    Hope this helps!

I visited a Dollar Tree here a couple of days ago and was surprised to find hearts and brains in the styrofoam butcher wrappers. First time I've seen those there and although the brains were kind of sorry looking, I did get one of the hearts. It isn't any worse than the kind in the Halloween stores and it's a fraction of the cost.

I picked up a brain and a couple of hearts today myself. They're perfect accesories for the Bob the Butcher scene we set up.

As to the severed feet and hands, a little work with paint/stain washes helps age them and is easy to do. At the very least a matte finish spray takes off the shine.

I did a Butcher scene with a gummy hand from Walmart's ($5 candy, foot also available in 2009). Used the Dollar Store for the hand, foot, bllod splatters and sign pieces. Toe tag informed guests to eat the hand. Looked great with minimal effort--you just have to break down and spend the $$ for the candy?! Only a little of the hand actually got ate but what the heck. http://www.halloweenforum.com/member...hand-candy.jpg
