OK, sorry to bring up a sadtopic, but I'm curious. Where do you store all of your props when they're not on display? Some of you have some fantastic huge items (obcessed with it & his hearse is the first one who came to mind
) and I was just curious what kind of storage everyone has.
I have a shed that was built across the back of our 2 car garage with doors that open fully. It's about 4 feet deep and probably 5 feet tall inside. Half of it has a shelf the entire depth & most of my props are on it.

My basement, where I built shelves for them and in my garage/workshop on shelves, on the walls on the floor, etc. It is a problem I will address this winter, or at least that is what I tell myself.

normally in my loft/attic, theres loads of space up there for [B]small[B] props, any big ones get stored in my garage, i dont have a basement which is annoying when i cant find anywhere to store big props.

I store most of my large props under the house (We have a large crawlspace area)....smaller items and the skeletons go in the attic and the really large props are outside against the side fence.....

In the garage, my Husband moans about them all the time. He lacks the Halloween spirit.

Right now all over the house, literally. We have a two car garage and separate one-car garage workshop area (builder called it that--hope to make it into a real workshop area someday) that we added cabinets and drawer storage to. I store things like resin gargoyles, cemetary crosses and tombstones, halloween trees, lighting, etc out there if its not something that might be affected by temperature swings. Loose stuff gets put in tubs that go on shelves. I'll be hanging my fence sections on the walls when they get built. My low-lying ice chest fogger and other fog machines stay out in the garage too. We don't get that cold but do get pretty hot.
My latex props and masks and more delicate stuff goes to inside closets where I can find the space. I have under the bed storage bins that I will store my mice and crows and snakes in as they are pretty flat. Costumes are either in bins in the garage or hang in an extra closet inside the house. I'm thinking of turning one of our extra rooms into a prop room, but hubby has not looked favorably on that idea so far. I'm working on him. His choice would be to eliminate stuff completely. If I didn't have so many themes I've been working on it would definitely be easier to store what I have.
Wish we had a basement. Our lot isn't big enough for a outdoor shed and I doubt our homeowner assoc would approve of one either. I know some people have off-site storage but no way would my husband agree to pay for storing halloween decorations elsewhere.

The mache stuff goes in the basement, the rest of the stuff is in the attic or garage. We've got a large detached garage w/a loft so we've got plenty of space so I can expand!

I rent a fairly good sized storage unit. I drive by on my way to and from work each day so I can stop and visit. LOL
or just pick up/out what I want to work on this weekend.

We have a neat, old farmhouse (built in the 1860's) in the middle of Hollywood. As is typical with older construction in our area, we have almost no storage space. No basement, no attic and no garage. So, we are reduced to renting a large storage unit off site. One unintended benefit is that our storage area is kept super-duper-mega-organized for ease of transportation to and from the house. There is simply NO WAY we could do our haunt in our current location without the additional storage!
