I will not pay $149 for this but I love the look. I was thinking basic paper bags with black paint & a flicker light inside?

Anyone have other ideas for how to get this effect?

Wow...those are cute...but WAY overpriced. I think you've got the idea about making them yourself, I wouldn't think it would be too hard.

Exactly what you were thinking, black paint and a flicker bulb would work best

They look like Christmas Luminaties, a brown paper bag with sand in the bottom & a tea candle or maybe use wire hangers bent to the shape you want & wrap with the paper uses for lamp shades. I would think they have it at the craft store. At $ 150.00 only one person needs to buy it & they'll have their entire stock of them paid for.

Hmm, that lamp shade paper is an idea. If I do paper bags I may not be able to save them for next year, although they'd be so cheap & easy I could just redo them. I might attempt this project this weekend. If I do I'll post pictures of what I come up with.

Aaahhh, I LOVE Grandin Road. Give me $1,000 and I could um...buy....maybe 3 things - LOL!

I've been eyeing these on their website for some years now and they have never gone on sale. I think you have the right idea though.

The Grandin bags are somewhat sheer which allows the light to shine through - are you planning to cut out some sort of design (with an Xacto knife) to get the light to shine through the black bag?
    Is it Halloween yet?

I would use burlap around wire framing to make the bags then use black felt for the decals (you would have to be crafty and able to seaw to do this). I would then use C7 christmas lights with orange bulbs to light them.

I love Grandin Road, but they are way too high on price and most of it can be re-created.

I would look for the white like "bakery bags" you want something that the light will shine through, but I definitely think you could create this yourself. They do have a couple cool things on their site, I like their dancing witch brooms.
