I have several ideas for props that i think would be really cool, but there's one problem. I need a dvd player to sync with pneumatics. Is there an easy way to hack a dvd player so that the play button can be controlled using say a picoboo controller? I'm pretty new to all of this stuff so the simpler the better. Thanks!!

there have been several discusions on this.

1. Take the DVD player apart and wire across the play switch, hook those wires to the prop controller.

2. Do the same thing to the remote control of the DVD player and point the remote at the DVD player.

3. Don't use a controller instead use the left audio track for audio and the right audio track for DTMF tones, then use a DTMF decoder to fire the pneumatics as in this thread (that has turned into a monster):
