Thread: jack in the box

We are going for the carnival / clown theme this year and hear is my attempt at the 7 foot tall jack in the box. I started with 3/4 inch pvc for the mech and good old osb for the box. I will keep posting more photos as progress allows wish me luck.

Are you going to have a pneumatic otherwise mechanically controlled Jack? It looks like it from the rigging and that will be so cool if you can get a sudden bouncy movement of it popping out of the box!

Finally got most of the box built all i need is the hinge. added a head and some arms that extend out when he fully raised. He ends up being over 7 feet tall when fully extended.

I can't wait to see the final product either. I would love more info on the motion portion of the project. Do you have info on how to build the mechanism?
