I'm starting to plan out my yard haunt for this year (as we all should be doing). And I was wondering, do you use music outside during your haunt, or do you just have it quiet. And if you do have music or sound effects, what do you like to use. I usually just have the standard sound effects, and have never been able to come up with something good. Maybe I'll get some good ideas with everyones responses

I've been meaning to add sound and better lighting the past couple of years and will for sure this year as they're key components to the ambiance of the haunt.
I ordered a light-o-rama this year and hope to have a couple songs setup to play the couple weeks before Halloween then maybe sync up some spotlights on my props/tombstones to some Nox Arcana on Halloween.

I am planing on setting a radio where it will be hidden and playing spooky/scary sound effects on it.

I have a sound effects/noise CD that I play every year & it seems to be pretty effective. It has a mix of odd sounds, the usual lightning, heartbeat, chains, breathing, altered voices, screams, etc, that kinda stuff & some weird backwards music. I just hit play/repeat & let it go.
I can't even recall where I got it. I've bought several over the years & I keep going back to the same one.
This year I've got Hallowindow to play on our big picture window & that has sound so the effects CD may be relegated to elsewhere this year.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

I haven't in the past, but Im gong to this year and see what response I get. I'm looking for stuff that isn't really obvious. Because truth be-told; graveyards, and swamps aren't the best place to go if you wanna hear tunes.

My biggest problem this year will be the new bright streetlight across from my yard. It lights up the WHOLE FRONT YARD!! It's as bright as daylight out there.
I am actually considering calling our mayor & telling him the light is too bright.
If it can't be changed, it may have a little "accident" before Halloween.

this year will be the first year i set out yard haunt items as my house is finished and i have a jump on things. Some things I might try doing is raising a battery operated speaker and ipod into trees and put crow calls on loop. I also have been tossing around the idea of a erie dark backdrop music of some sort or dark witch voices...

I have the last four years, and to be honest, I don't think I won;t this year. I prefer hearing the props scaring the kids this year.

I have a Halloween songs playlist that I have created over the years. I play it inside the house as I usually have neighbors and family gathering, eating, and drinking. This year I think I'm going to try to add some spooky sounds outside though.
My kids are getting older so they don't get as scared as much they used to.Is it Halloween yet?

I have multiple CD's from Midnight Syndicate that I picked out the ones I like the best, and play those all night. I really didn't like the sound effects cd's because it just really didn't go IMHO. I have the music loud enough that you can hear it, but still be able to talk to people and hear other props go off.
My neighbor and I both decorate, but we are in the middle of the street and we have a light pole in between our yards. We just use a ladder and crawl up there and uscrew it a little. Not sure if you can do the same with yours, but it is easy and we can just screw it back in the next day.Erebus (Ἔρεβος): God of darkness and shadow, which filled in all the corners and crannies of the world.
