im getting ready to get my halloweening into full swing, and im building a fcg and in all the diagrams the only thing im worried alittle about is the wiring of the motor. does anyone have some pics or info on the best way to do this as ive seen most motors must be manually wired and i don't want to blow up my motor by doing it wrong.

thats what im trying to figure now the one i saw on monster guts seems to be most popular but another one on surplus center.com is cheaper but im worried about the arm not being long enough.

That's a valid concern. Do you have a link to the Surpluscenter motor? As far as wiring them goes, it looks like the MG motor comes with flying leads. You can attach longer wires to them, like 18 ga. zip cord, or attach a 2-prong plug. Use shrink tube or electrical tape on the connections to be safe.

there doesn't appear to be any specs on torque on the surplus center motor, but looking at its construction, I have my doubts that it is strong enough to lift a ghost, but for the price it may be worth a try. You could certainly use it on another prop if it doesn't work.

I used the 2.99 motor from www.surpluscenter.com. Its item number 5-1587. I know some haunters may say it is too small, but I have used this motor for numerous animated props, including my FCG and it works great. It is easy to mount and uses a standard 12 volt dc wall wart. You have to modify the attachment a very little bit. Try to get something at 1 amp. I went with 2 myself. The cool thing is that you cannot wire it wrong, even if you tried.
Also, my FCG frame was built from cheap 1 x 2 wood furring strips. I have seen those high tech aluminum jobs and they do look nice but a simple wood one is easier to build and works just as well.

Yep. Here are a few. The 1st pic is just the washer, the second shows the motor. See the little gold prongs? I just crimp a couple of quick disconnect terminals to speaker wire and pushed them on the prongs. The third one is the frame, cheap wood, and lastly the ghost herself. I just used a how-to from the sight to make her. She was simple. Added green led eyes too.
