I'm curious if anyone can recommend a reliable brand/model of security PIR sensor that they trust? I'm looking for something with a short time delay (8-10 seconds or less reset) and preferably not a "pet-immune" model.

I dabbled with the stand-alone modules/chips last year which were conveniently small and adjustable but were inconsistent because they were exposed to the elements.

    Try these they work great.

You will also need some CAT5 cable to wire them but it's cheap. I have worked with frightprops PIR in the past and it's pretty much the same. I think the pet deter offers less "false triggers". I did order some overseas once and they had the option to either activate or deactivate the pet feature.

Ironically, this is the exact same PIR model I have been considering to purchase in the past couple days; the decision has been made!

Thanks for your insight Industen, I really appreciate it. Do you know what the time delay is on the Aurora and/or if it's adjustable?

There is a little delay...maybe 3-4 seconds between activations. I usually just leave my animated prop domant a few seconds after activated. I make it around 10sec total after that completes. The Honeywell is non adjustable. I'd just spend the extra $2 and pick up the

I use the Honeywells for "less controlled" props and the other for the "more controlled" props. Shipping takes about 1-2 weeks on these.

    Just so you know...

When you buy PIR's for alarm systems they are always normally CLOSED.

We modify our PIRs with several components to switch them from normally CLOSED to normally OPEN and to change a few other things. It's a pain to do but they work much better with our controllers in this configuration.

I can elaborate on why this is the case if anyone is interested.
