My local Salvation Army has plenty of wonderful old tabletop 15" Analog TVs that are just waiting for a new life in this digital age.
I run a haunted garage with an actor in an electric chair as my main focal point. However I have tons of little props, and a jacobs ladder. So my theme is definetly more towards the high voltage mad scientist lab.
My question to you is, can you share some ideas on what I could use an analog TV for in my lab? I was thinking of leaving it in the background with the white signal fuzz on... but thought that was be too drabby? Are there other things that I could do?
Thanks!![]()

How about this... a scene where he's been shocked, and that's what you see on the tv- just like in the movies- only what's on the tv is a different recording of him getting up after being shocked and coming towards the camera, but the real him is huddled over. Make sure you make it black and white and lots of noise. you'll need a vdr but since its the army, you should no problem finding one. A dvd recording would also work.

You could get a recording of electronic waveforms, kinda like the opening title of old Outer Limits show. Have those play on the TV it will look like a weird elctronic device.
You could also use Audio waveforms (without the music of course) playing in a loop on the TV. Straight from your PC or recorded to tape or DVD..
Here are some cool examples...multiple TVs playing different ones would be an awesome lab effect.

You could also use the tv behind a scrim & between a couple of "electrical posts". Use a dvd of electricity arcing, hook that up from the dvd player to tv,
from the front view will look like a real arc of electricity jumping between polls for that mad scientist lab look !When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

You all have great ideas! Good thing those analog TVs are cheap now - I think they were $10 - $15... I may have to pick up a few for some of these ideas!

I meant closed circuit but i think you realized what i meant, its not very exciting but its something
Maybe this but i couldnt find much, not sure how much CCTV cameras are to prop on a wall to record a short film to loop

That'd be perfect if it wasn't an alien. I don't think the alien mixes well with my high voltage frankenstein setup! Maybe I need to scour youtube a little
