VirusHaunt, I like your stone too, especially the height of the base, it gives the stone a nice proportion and presence.

I think it's great VirusHaunt! Very nice stone!

Well kiddies, I just finished the monster mudding of the base extension of my obelisk. A coat of the stones base color paint tomorrow, and then I'll be running the carpet moss all the way down and along the base plate. If I have enough free time during the week, it should be finished by next weekend

I have 2 questions for everyone...
1st - What kind of LED's would you use to light your stones??? I'm thinking of incorporating them into the foam itself so any advice would be awesome.
2nd - I own a dremel but am looking to get a cordless one...any suggestions on model???

Your last name isn't Belmonte, is it? Because that would be SUPER creepy. o.O
You can buy large plaster columns from Michael's. I've also found them at thrift stores.
If you're looking for smaller columns, sometimes you can find candle holders that look like columns at thrift stores or Ross.

I started to write a response to your LED question, but it's going to end up being a dissertation on the subject. To keep it short & sweet; the best thing I can advise you to do, is stick with either 3528 or 5050 package SMD LED's. They are a bit different than what everyone (that I know of) has used in the past. But they have a much wider angle of light dispersion than the normal 3 mm/5 mm/ 10mm LED's. They are more of a pain to work with because they are intended to be surface mounted on a circuit board, but they will give a much more evenly distributed light beam, with less of a cone of light visible on the stones face. Hope that helps
On the cordless Dremel topic, while it's been quite a while since I last tried a cordless. I immediately returned the one I had purchased after only one use. Weak, would be an appropriate term. Useless, an even better descriptive. Since there really hasn't been any major advances with battery technology since, I'd advise you to stick with the corded models, I'm sorry to say.
Fluted curtain rods also work really well for smaller sized columns. They worked out very well on my St. Francis monument.
