I have finished my first 10 'loose' PVC candles. I'm debating if I want to paint them white or leave them as is. I'm leaning toward as is, but would love everyone's opinions.

    Full source light:

    Half source light

    No source light

I'm planning on doing a grouping next, then working on some of other colors.
Question.... what is the best method for painting them, painting the pipe before or after the glue?

I painted mine before I added the hot glue, but I have seen people do it after as well! I kind of like the glue being clear so it gives it a different depth than everything being all white! Probably going to make some both ways though!

I didn't have good luck painting mine.. I used some valspar plastic paint and I think I would have been better off with rattle can spray paint, but I have also read you can just take acetone to the PVC and it will take the words right off and your all set to go!

    Awesome candles btw!

    Just beautiful candles!

Perhaps paint one very randomly with satin ivory spray paint: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-249073-Painters-Multi-Purpose-12-Ounce/dp/B002BWORVI"]Amazon.com: Rust-Oleum 249073 Painter's Touch Multi-Purpose Spray…[/ame]

Never used this particular paint but it's the one I wished I had when I did mine. I liked the translucence of the glue too but it was a little too translucent. I did use flat white randomly and it looked better but I think flat is too, well, flat. Gloss is too shiny. Satin should be perfect. White was okay but ivory would have been better.

Warning: If these candles are going to be outside for long periods in the sunlight, the glue that still shows will yellow:

Thanks everyone. I think I will try the spot treatment. I like the glue, but I think it is a bit too clear for me, melted wax holds at least some color of the cold wax.

Terra, I actually like the way yours yellowed that is what I would like to see in mine, to me that adds realism to them. White wax does yellow, especially once it has melted, so this adds to not takes away from IMO.

I think for the colored candles I am going to do a double shot type thing, paint the PVC before waxing, then painting again after waxing so the melt is a bit lighter then the candle itself. I'll try and and let you all know how it goes.
