On Saturday here in NY it was sunny and in the 90's. So what else was there for me to do than ..... yard work (pulling stumps)! Whenever I took a break, I would go into my garage and build this tombstone to go with my zombie child.
Cost of the build? $0 The UPS box I got at work when they delivered a ton of "the Last Air Bender" posters for me to hand out. The Dry Lock I had on hand for my basement project, The primer, the plywood, letters and moss are all leftovers from other projects.
On my last tombstone I used "fleck" or stone paint. A forum member suggested that I try Dry Lock. So that is what I did on this build. The texture achieved by dry lock is fine, but I like the texture of the "Fleck: paint better. Although with the Dry Lock it IS water proof and the “fleck“ paint is not cheap at all.
As for the weathering, down the street from my house is a cemetery from the Civil War. I noticed that the tombstones, really didn't darken but were lightened or bleached on the edges and corners. The cemetery is not well kept, but when they do cut the cut grass, it tends to leave a green stain near the base. I also tried to copy this. So, why did I darken areas, because it just looks better that way to me. Hope you like it.
Here is the tombstone alone:
Here it is with "Joey" the zombie child

Nice! Especially the $0 to build. Looks good, I never thought of using cardboard and drylock.
