here is a quick test for my talking statue/bust for Halloween. It is a rough test but I can get a feel of what the effect should look like. Take a peek-see and let me know if you have comments or advice.
Some comment I can offer is to light the entire bust. This will help mask the fact that a projector is making the facial features move. Also the lips on the "Caesar?" bust are interfering with the projected lip image. I would suggest making the bust's lips more flat and making the projected lips darker.
It looks like a great start on an effect. Great Job!
A few suggestions:
-shave off the statue's lips
-try scaling up the image a bit using the projector lens adjustment-- the face appears small. The best illusions I've seen allow the video's chin to line up with the statue's with the mouth closed.
-part of what clued me in to the above was the placement of the ears-- the statue's ears are larger and farther apart than the projection's. On top of adjusting the scale, I would remove the ears from the video altogether, as they do not remain stationary.
All in all, you're in great shape! I look forward to your final results
Are the flashes and flickering from your camera or in the video?
Good suggestions and observations. When I do an actual projection I will video the face in more even light. Then I will convert the video to black and white and eliminate all the areas except around the eyes mouth and nose. I may file down and flatten the mouth area, but I would still like the bust to look right even without the projection. I'll see how things go.
I agree on the full illumination. That should work itself out when I do the filming for real.
