    Hello forum,

Its been a while since I've posted a thread so here goes...

I've seen so many different haunted houses do 'car scares'. As in, you turn a hallway and in high budget haunted houses a car breaks through the wall. In low budget ones you would here a car horn in front of you or something. So I thought I needed one of those.

So I built a blueprint and I want to here your feedback. Ways I could improve it, ways you have seen something like this, a cheaper allternative or even if you think it would scare people... All feedback is greatly appreciated

    Thanks a lot guys,
    The Halloweenie

I think that will work great as long as the scaree doesnt get a glimpse of the set-up before they trigger it.

I might hide it behind a screen so when triggered you would only see the lights, but I gotta figure out legistics later... I'm trying to figure out how much this would cost ..

if your looking for a stario then goodwill has them most of the time look for the AIWA kinds they are pretty cheep but they work!! i have 5 of them so far and 30 or more speakers. also you would not want the sensor powering the audio since every time it trigered it would have to be turned on by hand and have time to warm up. so i think playing a car horn on repeat and the puting a relay in the the speaker wires and when it was trigered it would sound the horn that was playing so if you can fig out how to wire the relay to the sensor then it would work. if you have any questions just send me a PM i'm on all the time and if i missed any thing just ask!!! peace Ben

What about a real car horn? If there is a Harbor Freight near you, they sell them there. A good one is only $10. Attach the horn and salvaged headlights (from a junk yard, etc.) to a car battery, add a switch in-line, and there you go.

    Just brainstorming...
I think you could probably use a black cloth, see throughish, to hide the prop until the lights come on.

Also, I think it would be really cool to set up a wall break where pieces of the wall (styrofoam painted like grey stone or brick) fly towards the people. Maybe just 3-4 big pieces with a string attached to them. I have no idea how you would trigger them and get them to shoot forward toward the guests, but once it's over maybe the string can be rigged to pull them back in. (This might all be wishful thinking).

I would seriously give it a test run! Heres how I'd do it:
    1isable the garage light switch
2:Set it up to be activated while pointed toward the entry door
3:Ask the wife or my kids to go fetch me a case of soda or something out in the garage....

If they come back holding their chest while screaming at you with the extreme desire to smack you BLEEP outta you, ITS A DEFINITE GREEN LIGHT!!!

4:Once you arise from the floor with the pains on your sides due to laughing so much, say "I was just testing a new halloween prop design for the friends at Halloween Forum!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

I would use real head lights (junk yard = cheap) and if you're using a cassette player (as pictured) you can use the motion detector to turn it on. I use boom boxes and cassettes for repeating sounds all the time. Push the play button down and every time power is applied (when detector activates) the sound will come on almost instantly with the lights.

If I had my wishes I would build a small frame and mount the lights and a grill to the frame. If I really get to dream, I would mount an entire front clip to the frame. I would then have the lights come on, the horn blare and have the whole frame move forward rapidly toward the TOT. Then reset and return to the start position. But, hey, that's my dream.
