Does anyone have ideas about how I can get a "ghost" to float around my yard? I want to create a life size ghost out of chicken wire draped in cheesecloth, and somehow get her to travel around the tombstones in the front yard. Any help would be great, thanks!!!!

Here is my setup from last Halloween and may be along the line you are thinking possibly or else would go with one of the Axworthy type flying ghost. I plan on adding a couple more for this season.

Problem with an axworthy ghost is you are highly limited for the weight of the ghost, most have difficulty just with a foam head and fabric. The more weight you have the shorted distance between pulleys, since the weight will cause you cable to sag.

When I built my first one, I mounted the motor to a drawer slider so I could use a spring or a weight/bungee to keep tension on it and keep the cable (fishing line) taught.
    It worked great!

thats kinda how im going to do it too,, think of it like a bicycle chain,, its loose till you adjust the back tire to make the chain tight,, same principal can be applied to a FCG line to avoid the sag.

Check out the Hallowed Haunting Grounds site. They had (they're no longer in operation) a wandering spirit effect that was amazing:

Also, if you download their video on this page pay close attention to 8min 47seconds. You'll see the actual effect in operation:

Somehow I ended up with a video on this very effect that shows how they did it, but I can no longer find it on the internet. It's 12mb but worth watching for what you're doing. If you PM me an email address I might be able to send it to you.

I only wish I could create an axeworthy flying ghost as the winds gust here reach up to 65mph during the month of Oct. I would hate for it to entangle itself or constantly rope itself around the cable/pulley system.. I howeve do like the concept and designs out there!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..
