Depends on your price range & needs. A simple lite organ $30-40, a kit for $25,
or something like one of 3 of I-zombies http://www.i-zombie.com/index.php or lights alive http://www.lights-alive.com/ctrl_firefly.html or hauntmaster's fright lites http://hauntmasterproducts.com/products.html.
Chauvetlighting.com controllers, AmericanDJ.com also, just to name a few, all good quality. Again depends on your needs & how many watts you plan & how intense the effect your looking for.

I have an i-Zombie and I am very happy with it. It came with a Thunder track cd. That with halogen lights and a 300 watt guitar amp, I have the effect!

I've been looking at different machines and the I-zombie seems to be not only the most expensive, but has the most features. U use halogen lights versus strobes? Have u tried using the strobe lights?

Thank you for the websites. My wife (boss) constantly reminds me of this years cut backs on the Halloween budget. We have a very modest haunt. The lightning machine would be a step up to a new level.

I used strobes on my machine & it just gives it a more random flashing. The floods or halogen give a strong "lightening bolt" snap / look, & some use a photo bulb that helps give a blue-ish color & a photo bulb also produces a strong flash effect. Some have used both halogen giving the white & photo bulb to add the blue trying to achieve a more realistic look of lightening.......
Hauntmaster's are nice & more budget priced, but the more expensive like I Zombies have more features,....so depends on how "advanced" you want your lightening to be & the intensity of the effect for your haunt !

Depends on your haunt / setup & how & where you want the lightening to be. Tree's or on the back side of your roof to light up the area above- ground pointed up....
sometimes you have to play with it & how many ( pending the max watt your machine can handle will determine how many lites you can use ) to get the look you want.
Too much lightening may wash out the creepy effect you have going & not enough lite will just not give a good lightening strike effect.......

That is fantastic information Halloween 71. I would never had thought of using a flash bulb. I would like my lightning ot look as releastic as possible, especially after having dropping a ton of dough on a machine. It doesn't make any sense not to take it all the way.
