I was distressed at not being able to display my FCG & rig for halloween. Primarily because the only structure I had, a metal storage shed., did have the super-structure necessary to support the rig. It was then that I stumbled across
    a great idea...

    Greenhouses!

Go to E*bay and type in Greenhouse, and there are a slew of them for $30-60 (plus S&H of course) The one drawback, of course, is that the covering is clear. But get some cheesecloth, gauze (or the pre-dyed, pre-distressed 'creepy cloth', will take care of that.

It also has the added benefit of built in shelves for any lighting fog, or sound or other sfx you have in mind...

You can get very pricey if you like. I'm saving up for this little number next year...

Well that's always been the way here with me. Gives new meaning to the phrase: 'Necessity is the mother of invention' I've always been short on time, money storage, and overall display area. Not to mention having virtually no power tools or training even if I had them. So what I lack in wood working, construction, electronics/computers/pneumatics, etc, I'v e had to make up for in ingenuity and thrift.

Kinda gives me that extra ego boost when I come across someone who's idea of decorating is going exclusively to Wal-mart etc, buying a couple dozen or so props, inflatables, etc, then just plopping them down in the front/side yard with no apparent rhyme or reason...

Then there's what we all crave, to one degree or another, the vicarious thrill of seeing the holiday through the eyes of our TOT's who run out into the street saying 'This place is AWESOME!', or 'This House Is always the COOLEST!... etc to their friends and family...

EDIT: I've since realized that the above 'conservatory' model is 9' x9' x 10'. Waaaaaaaaay too big for my property. I've since found other sites with 5' & 6' models that cost about 1/2 to 1/3 what that one does. Also, two other things...

First: contrary to my earlier post most, if not all of these DO NOT come up with shelves. There, however, storage 'sheds' in similar vein the have shelves,(sold separately, of course) and they're not clear like the greenhouses.

Two: Some of the reviews indicate that the larger model greenhouse usually a minimum of two people to put together. Hopefully the smaller size greenhouse & storage sheds aren't as potentially difficult...

That is a good idea, but it is a bit pricey. You can make it cheaper by making it yourself. Rougly 180.

Yeah, since posting earlier, I found some less pricey alternatives. also, while 'on the cheap' can be a bit subjective, I speak as someone who has zero abilities when it comes to DIY construction projects. Believe me, I'm no Bob Villa, more like Tim Taylor...

I am sure you would suprise yourself with what you can do.Mine is nothing great but it does the job pvc frame some wood on half of it covered with black plastic and brick scene setters. It holds up to wind and the scene setters have lasted for 3 years outside year round.

This is what I have in the back, it large enough to work on a car inside of. My concern is that its not spooky enough, it something from the 70's (looking) and even though it looks worn on the outside the structure of it isnt all that creepy, lol.

I dont know if I need to build a facade for it or what but I planned to use it for some kinda mausoleum, with something moving inside.

I would like to know how I can "spookify" it up.

Your storage shed is perfect for "spookifying" - there are a few ways to go.

    1. Open the door, hang a sheet and project onto it.
    2. Make fake facades that make the windows look boarded up. Either made out of foam, weathered to look old and wooden, or old palettes.
    3. If it's empty, open the door and use it for a scary scene. Visitors would walk up to the opening and look in. Lots of opportunities for either people in costume or animated props that are triggered by people walking up.
    4. Use it as a small walk-through. Does it have a door on the back or the side? People enter the big open door, go through a small maze and through various scary rooms, and out the back. Or back out a door on the side of the main entrance.

ah! I forgot I posted this! Thanks JeffHaas for the suggestions. Its a single entry door and is large but not big enough to cram my props and people in safely. I thought to use it for something to peer into from a short distance, like your suggestion number 3. I thought of making a facade with cardboard and making a mausoleum, but I dont have a FCG, so I need to think of other things.
