While the prop is technically mechanical...I bought it that way. I need help with decorating it (static stuff). So, I wasn't sure what prefix to use.
Anyway, So I am having a zombie party this year, and I want to have a zombie baby in the bathroom.
I bought a crawling baby that giggles and laughs, but I need to zombify it. To be honest, I've never done any kind of crafting or painting before...so I need all the help I can get. I included pictures of the crawling baby, as well as a picture of the kind of look I'm going for... but I need your help!!.
Some basic questions I have.
- What color and kind of paint should I get?
- How should I paint her?
- What should I do about her eyes?
- What should I do about her clothes?
You guys are amazing, and I know I can make this great if I have your help!
Thanks in advance!

I'd do something like the girl on the movie the ring and laytex and paper towl so you can make hanging flesh dark circles around the eye's and black hair with patches missing

That's a great idea Mike!! Now that you describe the ring, I think I want to make a prop of a full size girl that looks like her. Maybe standing in a corner. Ok. before I go off on that, I'll bring it back to this baby.
I think I want to keep it close to the look I have in the picture above. Most of my guests don't do the ugly/gory....but I think you are right. If I use some paper towel for hanging flesh...maybe from the cheek. Dark circles around the eyes. I think that sounds good.
So, do you think I'll need black and gray latex paint? Then, do you think halloween blood should work for the cheek and head? Do you think paper towels will also work for a open would like the forehead above? Or should I use silly putty, or monster mud or something else?
How would you dirty up the clothes? Should I just paint or monster mud the whole thing? Maybe roll her around in dirt and mud outside?
Sorry I'm such a novice at this and I'm probably asking stupid questions. But, I appreciate the input and help. Thanks again!!_________

Not sure what kind of paint to use (cheap acrylic from the arts and craft store might work-just go over it with polyurethane so it doesn't peel or chip) , but i would paint the entire thing dark gray, and lightly go over that with a lighter shade of gray when that dries (maybe dry-brush it?) As for the eyes, you could probably run an LED in each eye, each attached to a button battery. They would easily last all night. Rip or paint some of the clothing, burn some of it, whatever you can think of. Anything will make it look better. After all, you really can't make a zombie look bad.
As for the wound, it looks similar to the effect you get from Great Stuff expanding foam. Just spray some onto your gloved hand, and pat it onto the forehead. Let dry, and paint.

I'll take a... stab. Strip the kid. Get a can of spray primer in gray. Coat baby in primer. Once dry get a nice dark stain or dilute dark latex paint. Stain the little cretin and wipe off quickly leaving the stain in the crevices and pits. Paint the eyes white with a black dot for a pupil. Add wounds as mentioned above. Get a diaper and soil it up. (use paint please). Dress the urchin in the diaper. Add some hair, poorly. Does the little tyke speak, can you tear the speaker a little to make is sound; wrong? That should be a good start.

Here's a pic of my slightly older zombie baby.

I carefully cut out the vinyl eyes, leaving empty sockets. I used Liquid Nails, applied with a small artist's trowel, to create the raised scaring and other skin deformatives. You could easily add strips of paper towel or cloth for hanging skin. I then pre-drilled tiny holes for the stiches. I then painted the entire face with the special primer made for plastic lawn furniture. For paint I used regular acrlylic paints from a craft store, first applying a light gray base coat followed by dry-brushing some dark green and a little black. I then applied a few coats of a wash of india ink to blend the colors together and create dark areas in the cracks. The eyes are hot-melt glue covered LEDs. Last thing I did was to add the stiches from heavy duty fishing line.
As for the clothes, go to Goodwill or a thrift store and get some that fit. Toss them on your driveway, add a little dirt, a couple of rocks, leaves, etc, and run back and forth over them with your car. Works great to make Zombie clothes.
Post some pics of yours when you're done.Doc Doom

I love the idea! I thought about getting a crawling baby, 'grossing' it up, and then letting it crawl into the party would get a great reaction. I didn't have any set plans to do this, but if I find a good deal at a thrift store this may end up on my list of 'to-do's'. Great tips, everyone! Thanks for bringing this one up!

Wow, great ideas everyone!! There so many different alternative methods to use!

Alright, I'll have to see which ones I think I can pull off. I really like all of them. In the future, I might have to invest in a few more babies and try whatever ideas I don't use this time.
I'll keep you posted on what I do and I'll be sure to post pics._________
