ok,, never messed with fog b4, but im doing it this year ,,, my front yard cemetery is about 60' x 40',, so roughly 2400 square feet,, im using a tube chiller with frozen water bottles,, also going to be using froggys swamp juice (expensive!!),,,,,, my questions for you all are..

    1. what size should i be looking for,, 700w, 900w, 1000+,,?

Second. is there a certain brand or type i should be looking at, or stay away from?

    C. i want my fogger to do its thing on its own,, not continuous but enough to maintain a nice fog,, do i need to by a seperate timer or does the "corded" manual timer" that comes with most of these do that function

lastly,, is there a vendor that sells a package deal for it all that YOU recommend?

Trying not to spend more than 120.00 bux on it all, minus the expensive juice that i understand is well worth the price...

I am going to tell you to make sure to get a timer or hack the manual one which I know nothing about.

A fog machine is on my buying list too, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread! Has anyone invested in one of those "cool" machines, instead of buying a separate cooler or building one with ice? How do they rate compared to cooling a "regular" machine?

The price may be good, but check the specs. The manual says the fogger has a 400W heater that draws a bit over 3A, but the fuse is rated for only 2A. That tells me that the heater is more like 200W - 300W, otherwise it would blow the fuse every time you powered up.
Just FYI, Chauvet has a history of greatly overstating the wattage and output of their foggers, particularly in the Hurricane product line. I have a F1250; supposed to be 1200W, actual is 800W. Not to say that it doesn't do the job, but I paid for a 1200W fogger. It's a long story.
Following the low-wattage debacle, they discontinued the design and made some improvements. This machine:

is a bit more $$, but the specs look much better. The 1300 has gotten good reviews from users here and elsewhere. It'll take care of your 2400 sq. ft. yard, especially with that Froggy's Swamp Juice (the best).

Chauvet is one I will no longer buy after the stunt they pulled by overstating the wattage. They didnt even stand behind their products once it was discovered.

I'm with you on that - they'll get no more of my money after that 6-month-long fiasco. FWIW, I have heard good things about the 1300.
My next fogger will be a VEI 945/950. Pricey, but I've been saving the nickels and dimes for a while!

Yeah I remember that zillion post thread. I would go with the highest wattage you can afford sanse the misrepresention on those that was discovered by some. Not everyone (me) is as versed in that kind of testing but still I would shoot for the highest you can afford.

You GOT to have a timer if you want to start it and forget it. One thing though I would suggest is looking for the type that has the juice feeding hose that goes from the tank through a tube in the cap to the machine. With those you can bypass the fogger tank, and with a small purchase at your local Petsmart aquarium section get more tubing and an interconnector piece. With that you can run the hose directly into your Foghy juice container (gallon is best) and run it much longer than having to top off the fogger tank as often as you might.

    My 2 cents anyway.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.
