I just rebuilt my monster mud grim reaper prop and made a tutorial to help others avoid some of the mistakes I made last year.

I thought the recipe for Monster Mud was 5 parts joint compound and 1 part latex paint. A la Terror Syndicate, http://terrorsyndicate.com/tsp_mm.html

This is a great video to learn all the gotchas with mm. If someone watches this then they will avoid A LOT of headaches! By the way, what was your recipe for mm again?
I want to echo what you said about a good prop takes time. Heartily agree. The more time you take to get the details right, the more realistic the prop becomes. Props building is fun but time consuming for sure

The MM recipe from TS is 5 parts compound 1 part paint, but I used that mixture last year and the prop didn't look right. I reversed the mix this time and it was perfect. It depends on the prop and your personal preference.

Wow, nice to know that the mm recipe can be adjusted that much. The reaper looked great with the heavy paint ratio
