Here is a link to our coffin couch my son Matt and i built.
Would like some input on how much you all would be willing to pay for one if we were going to build some more. Not sure if we are going to,but would like to hear your feed back.
Thanks Joe

That is so awesome! Great use of a coffin when you have one laying around, especially in the back of a Hearse. NICE!

First the business side - I absolutely love the concept. However, the execution in my head seems like it might be cost prohibitive. It would be a great look in any home haunt naturally. However, few have room for such a piece, and if they did, even fewer would have the man-power required to move it in and out of the destination.
As far as price, a simple steel coffin is still around 1k retail. That said, add the modifications, craftsmanship, materials and fabric and even if you are buying the casket at wholesale, you are back up to about 1.5-2k. To make any profit at all your selling at around 2-2.5k and shipping would make the end result to your customer right around 3k total "out the door."
That seems like a lot of money for a two seat solution that would occupy the space of about 5 chairs normally (if a seating location.)
Now the home haunter - REALLY nice looking job! I MUST have one. How much are you in as far as cost and time?

Peniwize.... coffin 250, material , wood ,Paint, and two days, i would think total around 500.
we were going to make it a three seater but the cost of high density foam if great. found some on line that wasn't that bad but didn't want to wait the week to get it. so this is what we ended up doing. two seater with the cooler in the middle. still have to put fabric over half of center console and drill two cup holders in it. over all its great when we take the hearse to cruise nights. The Tallman comes, Be very afraid

That's fabulous!
Seems like the cooler is a bit small, however. Have you considered putting a cooler underneath one of the seat cushions instead? And, why not throw in an audio system option, with flat speakers in the lid underneath the fabric, a big sub under one seat, and the audio controls between the two seats?
Craig
p.s., technically, it's a "casket", not a "coffin". Coffins have 6 sides, caskets, 4, plus a top and a bottom.

That is pretty reasonable! Now - for expanding your market. Instead of just Halloween haunts, I know about 12 of my daughters friends that are all over the current vampire trends that would probably be interested in one of these for their room. LOL Get a deal with Hot Topic!

Happy Haunting!
