Just picked up an Orbit miststand, you know those personal standing misters which you attach to a hose and use during the hot summer months when sitting outside. Decided it would be perfect as something to hang my python prop from when I go to do my Skull Island jungle theme. I'll turn the mister into a vine, probably sew some sort of sleeve covering I can gunk up and paint and slip in on and then attach the snake to the "vine".
I've considered making this a spitting snake by adding a water tube attached to the outside of the mister before covering it with vine material, and then slitting the snakes underside neck area and running the water tube inside the snake head and out to the mouth. I didn't want to cannibalize the mister in any way so that it could still be used in the summertime for cooling purposes.
Anyway, here are some pics I took of the snake prop. More detailed info on what I used and the mister can be seen in the description of my pictures in my 2010 album. I just used string to attach the snake for now but either something like black floral wire or clear nylon thread would work well for a final halloween mounting. BTW the mister is just hanging in both pictures by just the weight of it and the snake. Pretty cool and easy to relocate. The mister also makes a great stand to attach lightweight props to when you need something very small and inconspicuous to use for support.
Here's the Orbit company website page for the mister I used: http://www.orbitonline.com/products/...l/04/01/10/51/

the spitting snake idea sounds cool.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I'm not planning on using the mister function since I wouldn't want the kids wet here in Oct when it can get pretty cold; also don't want to end up soaking my haunt over the night. Besides to use the mister the way I did to best fit the latex snake's natural positioning (somewhat bendable but still not truly), the mister head is actually at the top near the tail (hose connector pictured at the bottom near the snake head in the photos) so it wouldn't have worked out anyway without altering the mister.
I'm going to look into how to run a separate tubing line with a squirt nozzel that would be located at the end with the snake head, and with the rest of the tubing running up and over the snake's tail and hidden somewhere beyond the scene with the water source. This extra tubing would run along side the mister and both would be hidden inside a fabric sleeve that I would creep up like a vine to conceal both the tubing and the mister.
BTW If anyone has done a squirter line like this, I'd love to hear from you. I'm sure it's do-able, just don't know how yet. I have a Shop Vac that doubles as a steam cleaner and that's basically the action that I want. You pull the trigger on the steam cleaner wand and it sends out the warm water through the tubing and out the flooring attachment in a spray. Shop Vac is way too loud and it would be nice not to have to pull a trigger manually either.
The other idea I that would be kind of cool would be remove the actual mister end of the mister and to send low-lying fog out the tubing. Not sure how do-able that idea is but it might look nice. Probably just easier to run a low-lying fogger on the ground though and essentially get the same effect.

If you want to buy the Snake.... –

Thanks for all the positive comments. BTW I bought my python a few years back (maybe from Oriental Trading, BuyCostumes or maybe FrightCatalog, although don't see it listed at any of those locations now--maybe too early in the season). However if you are looking to add this prop to your own haunt, I did find it being sold over at Haunted Props for under $25 right now. It really is a cool snake and detailed latex on all sides. Well worth the price for 6-1/2 feet of snake IMO. It's somewhat bendable as you can tell from my photos but it does pretty much stay conformed to the basic snaking pattern you see in the HP webpage. I'm pretty sure the inside has a soft foam fill. I'll know better when I slit the throat area whenever I do the tubing for the spitting action.
If you don't want to do the spitting action, you could probably add some glowing green/red/yellow eyes to it if you remove the fill inside the head/neck area. I think that would look pretty spooky too.
Oh and I had to move the snake the other day and it hangs nicely resting on the top of our bedroom door! so very usable for an indoor haunt scene too. The mister head connector helps balance it in place pretty well. If you have kitchen cabinets with space above the top of them you could position it hanging down from your cabinets. Another placement idea would be from a tall bookcase or even fireplace mantle. So lots of possibilities. And so many people just hate snakes!
