Here is my take on a Code of the Brethren type book as seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End.. I found inspiration from a cardboard type book at Michael's that opens up into a box! Basically I used some paper towels, modge podge, and carvings I cut out of craft foam to make the design!

I saw those at Michael's and didn't have a plan on what to use it for. It's now been added to my to do list.

Now all you need is a talisman to go with your book!

thanks for all the nice comments Yeah those books are a cool base for a project. A lot easier than making one from cardboard!! This one is going to be a gift for a friend. Even did a pirate themed bottle of Jack Daniels, lol. Eventually when I have a pirate themed haunt or party..a few of these laying around would add some nice atmosphere

Looking good. Check out Dave Lowe's blog. He made a "Magic Book" for a TV and tells some simply tricks to age and weather it. He also tells how to make the pages for the inside. Good information that could help you.
