Can the rig be made from wood instead of metal? i have so much of it laying around,, would save me around 20 bux,,, i ordered a 5-1702 6rpm motor from surpluscenter.com (it was only 14 bux shipped via priority mail!!!)

anywho,, thought id ask to see if anyone has gone this route....

    thanx all

Sure. I did that. In fact all I did was mount the motor to a single board which was long enough
to reach between the rafters in my garage. I then just screwed the eyehooks into the rafters themselves to guide the fishing line. Worked great.

thats what i figured as well,, every lil bit helps when it comes to saving some coin. with finding that motor, and using wood instead of the metal for the rig,, ive already saved 70 bux.

I needed to make a free standing rig that could be put in a window in a hallway. I made the entire thing out of wood. I built a triangle base for support and had a 2x4 that was just shorter then the ceiling running vertically up from the base. Then I had a piece coming off of that that the ghost was on. That way I could move it in and out the hall and not have to rig anything from the ceiling. Then I made basically a shadow box out of a black sheet draped over the whole thing. That way the black lights could light the ghost and I could have the lights on in the rest of the house.

Maybe this will help... Courtesy of Dr. Creepy and his wonderfully cheap and easy props...

We had originally done our crank ghost, Bob, this way before we set him up in the mausoleum. The design turned out to work really well. Good luck!

I'm using the same wooden FCG frame I built back in 2002.
I used this tutorial from the Monsterlist:

Mine is a combination of 1 aluminum 90 and one 1x2 wood furring strip. As long as you have the rig secured, I don't believe it matters much to the medium it is attach to.
If at first you don't suceed.... drink another beer!
