Ok, I'm doing a skit next month and need a big fake fire and also a way to use fake blood that won't get too messy(because it will take place on carpet, but I could put some kind of tarp down.)
The fake fire, I have silver lame tissue tied to pvc pipe with a fan blowing it straight up with amber and red spotlights hitting it. But I was going to see if there was a better effect to use?
Then, some of the people are going to use fake swords to cut themselves with and blood needs to come out? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I would take one of those plastic swords that are hollow inside. cut it in half. have a small container of blood or bladder that would fit inside. Attach a tube to it. Glue it back up.
Depending on how the actors are cutting themselves. I would make a small hole in the sword to allow the tube to drip out onto them. Hope that makes sense.

Does anyone think I could do I fake fire using some type of pepper ghost method?

Heck yeah you could do a peppers ghost fire. How big does the fire need to be?What about a projector instead? Will the area be dark or lit? What the size of the area you'll be using?
If it's a big fire,I'd go with a projector as the peppers ghost will only be as large as your tv or the "prop" you'll be using.
With the projector, you can enlarge by moving the projector or bouncing off of a mirror. The downside to the projector is,you'll need some type of scrim to project onto.

I was thinking about possibly using a projector. I would need the fire 4x4 or 4x6, haven't decided just yet. The area will be lit until the fire starts, then it would only be a very dim light. I don't have a projector just yet, but was looking at getting one for my Halloween haunt this year anyways. Any suggestions, looking for something that will do a good job but won't cost me an arm and a leg.

I've got 3 ultraprojectors and I've projected fire with it.It looked really good.
Someone on another forum has placed an order for a different one,but they look like they aren't shipping until tomorrow at the earliest. It has a great price on it.http://christmaslightshow.com/produc...9&cat=3&page=1

For my upcoming haunt I'm going to use a special foil and beam on it. The foil is adhesive. I stuck it on a piece of Plexiglass. You could use a scrim curtain it's much cheaper.

Upke, I like that effect. What is that foil called? Is there a source in the US for it?
