I'm almost finished with the caves for our haunt.
These were framed in with 2x4s and misc. lumber. The sides were finished with plywood, just in case the people bumped or jumped into them. The ceiling is open and finished with window screen.

The whole thing was sprayed down with a monster mud mix of thinned out drywall mud with water, and black paint. The mix was thinned so that it did not clog the applicator. The applicator was a texture sprayer. There were a few coats applied, depending on the coverage and strength or hardness of area.

The scenes will be dark, so there is no need to actually spend a lot of time detailing.

In the pictures you will notice the skulls I cast. I needed a lot of skulls and may add some more to the scenes.
I'll post the finished pics. next

Here are the finished pictures of the caves.
I am very pleased with how this turned out and the cost was very less than my original idea. I was going to use the 2 part spray foam system, but this cost just did not merit the investment.

This used only 2 1/2 buckets of drywall compound and 1/2 gallon of paint.
Wood was on hand and left over items.
    1 roll of window screen 48" x 75', if I remember correctly.
Old junk window screens from roadside, stripped off the metal sides.
The gate in the cave is made from 1x3s and 1/2" pvc pipes.
My foam skulls and 1 bucky skeleton.

Nice job Darkmaster! Is this in a garage or basement? From someone who has limited space, I always wonder where people who set up so early are storing their displays. Thanks.

This is in our pole barn. The barn is 30' x 60' with a 12' overhang on one side.
This is our 6th year and our 2nd year at this location. My other haunts were all outside with built structures, so I really enjoy being able to leave this up all year long.
Visit our web site www.terrorsofthenight.com. and please stop by this year to experience this first hand.
