I'm thinking of adapting the kind of lame Flying Ghosts by Tekky Toys (bought a few of them last year at Big Lots) to use in my "jungle" skull island theme. Thought flying monkeys would be a great idea. They could "leap" from tree to tree. Has anyone done something like this before using the Tekky Toys product as the basis for their modification? Since the ghosts are really light fabric I'm assuming for it to move across the line I need to also keep the monkeys as light as possible--thinking paper maché--probably skeleton in shape. Love any suggestions to get me started. I figure I can use the ghost motor with the sound off (one of the selections) and add ambient monkey sounds as a background audio.

I don't know what you mean by 'skeleton in shape" but maybe you could find cheap stuffed monkeys from a Dollar Store and gut them to cover the thingy that moves back and forth.

Deadna, sorry I didn't describe this better. To answer your question I was thinking of creating a more or less skeletal monkey showing bones, skull, tail, maybe some skin but not something that looked at all like a live monkey in other words, and something that would tie in with the Skull Island theme. I bought a giant 30-inch talking skull from Costco last year that I want to feature somehow in this theme and I thought skeleton monkeys made of paper maché material flying across the trees would be a nice touch to the island. Hope this clarifies my vision.
I found this clip art that I'm going to use to model the monkeys from: Monkey Skeleton Clipart
I've never worked with paper maché before so would appreciate some good tutorial sites.
