Hello All - Finally made the leap to a 3-axis skull! Bought a 3-axis Lindberg skull kit from GraveYardSkulls and after about a week of tinkering with it after work, I got it all working. Was actually fairly easy. I did not want to use a computer to operate it so I built a circuit board that just runs the 3 servos randomly all the time - gives the effect of him (or her) just looking around the room. I then used a MP3 board and Sound-to-servo board for the jaw movement. Here is a link to some photos and a short movie:
Scary Rick - Yes, I made all of the boards - 3-axis random servo board
(3ARSB) , MP3 player and sound-to Servo board. There are several companies that make a sound board and sound-to-servo boards and they will all work with my 3ARSB. I just never found anyone that made a board that would move 3 servos randomly, so I made one of those, too. I made the board so that it would connect to the servos via a small remote board (located in the skull) that was connected to the main board by a small ribbon cable. Didn't want all of the servo wires hanging out of the skull. Jeff
