Hi again, gang.
I call this one "Sven", cuz he's got a long, narrow face and looks sort of Scandinavian. LOL It's another cardboard-frame paper mache skull made totally from scratch. Inside, there's a mache'd tube holding the flanged end of a pvc pipe...that will allow me to easily insert the section of pvc at the top of the spine (haven't made that yet).
I had a real hassle coming up with a way to make better teeth. I finally settled on carving individual tooth molds into styrofoam with my rotary tool. I gave that a light spray with pam cooking spray and then dropped a blob of mache paste into each one. Stuffed em all with toilet paper and added another blob of mache paste. pPressed em all into the molds good and firm and let em dry. After that, I picked em all out with a screwdriver and hot glued em onto the skull. A bit of toilet papaer and mache paste, and it was all done.
Overall, I'd say the teeth ended up being the easiest pasrt of the whole project.
Oh yeah....and this time, I put coat hanger wire inside the skull and jaw (mache'd in place well) so I could have a better hinged/removeable jaw.
I want to thank Scourge for allowing me to print out the pics of his molded-from-a real-human-skull to use a reference...his kindness has been an excellent resource for me.
That said, I gotta say I'm not happy with how the the top of the head turned out...way too shallow. And the eyes didn't turn out with the size/shape I was hoping for. All in all, tho, the subtle changes as compared to 1st one I made were well worth the effort. I'm getting there, I think.
Anyway, here he is:

That turned out great! It really amazes me what you can do with paper mache. I think you are off to a great start with v2.0. I wish I had pictures of my first skull sculpt, it looked like a donkey-monkey thing, lol. The more ya make the better you get. Keep up the killer work!

You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”
