I was wondering if anyone has ever built the Stygian Witches from Clash of the Titans? I was watching the 1981 version, and thought the 3 witches looked really cool. I'm still brainstorming on what to use for the 'eye' that they share. Any suggestions?

Wow! That would be a big project. I would build the structures from PVC and chicken wire, then create pulp-mache heads using those cheap styrofoam heads as a base structure.

I think it may be more difficult to build a cauldron that large. Maybe chicken wire and wood with a hulu hoop rim, then cover the whole thing with several layers of MonsterMud?

I probably won't make that big of a cauldron (as least not yet!). They have some good sized cauldrons that I can buy. I will use the styrofoam heads, since they're only about $3 each, and I'll do some build up with cellu-clay or something similar. I'm thinking about making a large hole for the eye, so I can actually put the eye in the head, but I'm not sure if that will look good, or if I need to just cover the eyes like the pic. I need something for the eye that will be light enough for them to hold, but that will look cool. One idea is a clear plastic egg or globe (maybe like the 'cut crystal' look?) with a flickering battery-op tea light in the eye to make it sparkle.

They sell big crystals, think big old diamond, at Michaels for about $6.
They them in green, red, blue, yellow, and clear.

In the Percy Jackson book, the Stygian witches actually share a true eye and pass it back and forth popping it into their heads so they can see. In the book they also share a tooth. Gross huh? LOL

any one who seen the movie or will see the new 3D one will know what the shareing the eye is all about, so that is good But I was thinking unless you tell the little ones what they are doing, they might not get it. If it is going to be a display ...will you still have to make the eye so it comes out? by the way I can t wait till next week when the 3D version Of Clash of the Titans comes out!!!

I agree ....... witches have creeped me out ever since I was a kid (and that`s been many years ago !)

I think it started with the Wizard of Oz. The Wicked Witch of the West was one of the best witches ever. imho
