This is going to be the head of one of the ghosts I'm building.

Very nice! I like the crack through the forehead. What did you use as the base for the skull?

That's delightfully nasty looking! What did you use for the base structure?

I cast some paper mache around a skull, cut the back and popped it off. then I used great stuff to fill up the head, and airbrushed it. Not too much effort and really cheap to do.

with the right paint job, that would make a really good burn victim skull

Burn Victim - yeah, I actually started last year playing with building props and getting into the great stuff. I've made a few burn victim skeletons and they turned out great. My paint scheme was a satin red, a gloss black, a gloss red, and a gloss clear.
Mouth - You know, I was thinking about it and then I realized that I'm only using this for a blacklight hanging ghost. On my next skulls you're right, I'm not going to stuff the head with great stuff though, I think I'm going to use paper and then I'll do some more detail with my airbrush on the mouth.
The best part is that a skull only really costs about 1.00 or so now.
