I have this wild looking latex dog and would like to make it pop out of a dog house and lunge at peoples feet as they go by. Maybe have a speaker with a dog growl/attack sound inside the dog house and maybe a red light. I can do all that, but the dog jumoing out is what has got me. And how would I attach the thing? Any thoughts?

You could mount it like a pendulum from the roof of the doghouse so It looks like it's jumping out and up at the person. That way you can use the arm to amplify your cylinder stroke. Sorry for the poor picture. I don't have autocad on this computer...

Thanks for the suggestions. I thinnk the scissers thing is a little advanced as I have no experiance with air props. I love the from the roof idea, I follow. Would have never thought of that. The dog looks more like my weiner dogs than the attack dog lol. Thanks.

I did something similar using drawer slides and a pneumatic cylinder:

You could probably mount the dog on the drawer slider and hook it to a fast RPM motor with a crank. Then just use a remote to trigger it.
    Kind of like this:

I would make a pair of wooden (Or metal) "tracks" paint them black (to hide them in the dark) then i would make an armature (frame) for the "beast" and mount wheels on the whole thing and make cams to run off of those wheels (to make the legs move) then i would drive the whole thing with rear wheels and a forward/reverse motor of high speed. Wire it all up to your control device (prop controller) making sure to paint anything you don't want seen in a nice flat black. Then i would program my prop controller for movement and sound and then set my "Beast" in a dark garage or haunt on Halloween night and motion activate him with a passive infra-red sensor and WHAMMO! instant poopie pants from your victims......hee hee hee. Trust me, i have been thinking of a prop like this for some time now only i was either gonna do a Dragon or a Werewolf type creature.......best of luck!

P.S. Don't forget to give your "Beast" some nice, glowing green LED eyes!

Love the idea of the pneumatic drawer slider. Could use that for lots of things: a zombie grabbing at your ankles, a giant rat.... Excellent!

Thanks for all the ideas. The drawer thing was really cool. I played around with the hanging arm, attached a 2x4 to a hinge hanging upside down and hooked the dog to it. I swung it back and forth and it looked pretty good. Now to hook a motor to it. Thanks again.

Around here skunks are a bigger scare then dogs so I was going to do something similar but using a white striped stinker. I like the swing arm idea. But have all the parts for the slides.
