I'm planning on making a skull fountain this year and I just want to check with you all about the safety of drinking from it. I was thinking of making the actual bowl a large cauldron and the skulls would be buckies.
My concern is that it be safe to drink from. I would clean it as well as possible, but does anybody have any safety info on this? I'm having a party the Sat. before Halloween, and then the haunt will be open the next day with the same fountain running as a prop. Any info? Thanks.

I wouldn't advise it as most skulls are glued together. Unless you like the taste of glue in your drinks.

Only if you use food grade materials & nothing glued or painted touchs your drink. I saw an example of one years ago and it is still up. Here is the link. Fountain1

^Thanks for that link. This is the first time I've ever bought or used a bucky, so don't really know what to expect. I wasn't planning on painting anything that the liquid would touch.
A main part of the question is if the cauldron itself is safe or if I need to line it with something, etc.
I really wanted the fountain part to just be decorative, but the drink to be ladled out of the bowl. Is there a way to know for sure if it's safe?
I guess I could just make it the way I want with a lot of wiggle room for edits if it doesn't work/tastes funny...

Just run the return line through the Bucky and don't let the bucky touch the fluid.

Let it run to off-gas. Do you sealing with silicone until cured completely. Stock with cherry Koot-aid.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

Are you using a plastic cauldron that you would buy at the store? Last year, i used one to put punch in for my party. I just washed it like any other dish before hand and it was fine.

Yes, I'm just using one bought from the store.

Just a thought, perhaps you could put the right size stainless steel bowel in the cauldron , don't glue it so you can remove it for cleaning. Don't forget to let us see your fountain!
