I used one for a doorbell last year - worked great. What kind of problems are you having?

I installed the software v2.03. I set the properties on the icon to Run as Administrator per the instructions. Plug in the USB andI fire up the program. Click on open and choose an mp3 file. Many just say End, some got a process that end with Write Successful! Push the button on the unit and I just get a single blink on the LED.

I haven't used this one. Do you have to hold down the record button while it is recording??
With the software provided and downloaded correctly, it should work.

Sorry I'm not familiar with this one.

I could not get the software to run on Windows Vista. I loaded the software on my laptop running XP and everything worked fine.

I also recieved a unit where the batteries were almost dead. That caused wierd behavior until I wired in a wall wart

    Hope that helps

My first thought was it was running on Vista or Win7. XP is so much more reliable, especially for little programs like this. One thing is that the instructions say: "When running under Windows Vista be sure to right click on the VDM Writer Icon and choose to "Run as administrator". I don't know if it makes a difference if you choose to right click or set it in the properties.

Vista went too far with security in my opinion. The permissions parameters are structured to make it more secure for the average user but when you install older programs, you have to learn how to set permissions so that the program works properly. If this is what is happening, a simple way around this is to move the VDM program folder to your documents folder, where Vista allows files to be changed and saved.

It is running on Vista. I'll try it on my wife's XP machine. I did set it to Run as Administrator. I moved the program to the Documents folder and got a Runtime Error/

Thanks all for the replys. It seems to work with .wav files, but does not .mp3. I just have to import the .mp3 into Audacity, and export it as .wav
