Hey everyone, I'm working on a very ambitious project (series of projects) for this upcoming year based around Pumpkins. I, however, have a problem. I live in Vegas, and being that I live in the midst of an arid wasteland, err, desert ecosystem, I have never been to or seen an actual, honest to Deity pumpkin patch. I'm attempting to figure out the..... I guess you could call it consistency.... of pumpkin vines near harvest. I'm imagining that they are very much like green wood with a bit of give, but I'm unsure. The pictures I've seen look like they have been taken way before harvest, and I'm going for the nearly dead vine look.
Does any one have pictures I can work from, or can anyone give a really (REALLY) detailed description of Harvest time/dead pumpkin vines.
The amount of detail is very important because I'm going for a lot of realism in my work this year.
Any help you can provide is appreciated!

Here's a few pics taken at a SoCal farm (there's still a few) - these are pretty close to harvest time, and you'll see there's a mix of dead, dried vines, and green, leafy, viable vines as well.
Hope this gives some frame of reference:

Here's a combination pic - more vibrant in the foreground...I'm pretty sure the pig has nothing to do with it:
Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...
2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...
