Go to home depot and get a big bag of Cellulose insulation. Get some white glue and some water and bingo you're mache-ing.

    Easy.
    1. Head to Home Depot or Lowes and pick up a bail of cellulose insulation, 3 to 5 gallons of join compound, a mixing attachment for your drill, and an empty 5 gallon bucket with lid. The insulation is nothing more than finely shredded newspaper. Costs about $10.
    2. Mix up a batch of mache paste:
      6 cups flour
1 cup Elmer's White glue (PVA)
      1 cup Liquid Starch
mix with water to the desired consistency (think pancake batter here)
add a little bit of bleach and liquid dish soap (this deters mold)
    3. Now take your 5 gallon bucket and add several handfuls of the insulation to the bucket, the mache paste you made earlier, and a couple cups of joint compound.
    4. Mix this with your drill and the mixing attachment. Keep a jug of water handy while you mix in case the clay you are making gets too dry. At this point just play with the amount of water/joint compound/insulation until you get the consistency you are looking to work with. This stuff is gold!

Keep a lid on the 5 gallon bucket and the mache clay will last for a couple of days. Just make sure to mix it again after it's sat for awhile. You can also refrigerate the clay and it's last a really long time.
