I recently got ahold of a full size mannequin, like those you'd find in your local department store:

Aside from the incredible resemblance to my own physique, I'm looking for ideas on what might be the best way to use it. There's also the lower half of the body (not, ahem, such a spitting personal image), so it's going to stand at least 6-feet high. And that's before a head is put on it. Now I didn't get a head with the mannequin, but that's okay because I plan on making my own.

So I would like to hear from my fellow haunters what they think might be a good use for this mannequin. Thanks!

Due to the detail musculature it would be a shame to loose that. Maybe a grave yard statue.
At 6 ft tall plus a head, on a base, it would sure be an eye catcher.
It is not a sprint, nor a marathon, just a slow meandering down the path to the grave yard.

    helenback,

"Due to the detail musculature it would be a shame to loose that."

Funny, but that's exactly what my wife told me a few years ago before I went on that bender...

Anyway, I actually like that idea about a graveyard statue. It does have a certain Romanesque look to it that, if made appropriately corrupt, would fit in well with a graveyard. Thanks!

make him into a wolfman. glue animal hair on the arms and chest. pet grooming shops will give you animal hair to get rid of it.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

You could make him a groundbreaker just use the torso, put a torn shirt on him so you can still see his muscles heeeee.
By the way where did you get him and if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay been looking for one.

    savagehaunter,

A wolfman is not a bad idea either, though it might be a daunting task to cover that body in hair. Of course with with clothes covering most of it, I could limit it to just the exposed areas.

    Arlita,

Since I plan on getting some more mannequins, and some only the upper torso, I do intend to make some groundbreakers. I guess even bodybuilders could end up coming back to life as zombies! ;>

As for the cost, it was a steal at just $10. From what I understand this particular model goes upwards of $1000 and it's pretty substantial. It's solid inside with metal connectors for the limbs and a metal rod that travels up inside it to have it stand erect on its base without falling over.

But it's only when they're getting ready to change them out for different and/or newer models that they become available. I know someone that works in retail and I asked them to keep an eye out for them when they become available. Since they are so expensive it's not all that often.

I have two mannequins similar to this, but mine is full body opposed to being in two parts. both are headless like yours.

One of the mannequins is the body for my Grim Reaper and the other is the body for my vampire.

PS... I got mine from the store I work in and the cost me 25c each !!!

    Herman Secret,

Day-em! And I thought I scored a real coup with my $10 mannequin! The person I got them from probably made a 4000% profit off me. LOL!

Still, they are useful, even at $10. Did you do anything special to protect your mannequin from the elements, or just the usual?

Didn't do anything at all to mine ... seem to be pretty robust and I don't think the elements will affect them at all.

Got them this cheap because they can't just give anything away ... so I just had to pay a nominal amount. Otherwise they would probably ended up going into the trash compactor.

Other purchases I have made are

6 legs they use to display socks and hose (paid $1 for these) which I have an idea for already
Motor from an animated deer that was damaged (25c)
10 clear plastic bowls with black claw fingers holding them (25c the lot!)

My next project is to save some of the pvc pipe that come with the large store sacks. They are around 12" long, 1inch diameter. They would be ideal for PVC candles. After bags are used off the roll they just get tossed !

Will try to get a pic of some of the items later

A zombie with the shirt torn open might be good. Scars and blood on the torso. Could even take an arm off and have a torn stump.
