Ok this is my first thread so please bear with me. I came up with an idea for lighting that was inspired by Terra and all the others who made the flicker candles from pvc pipe. What if you could take a string of 10 flicker lights and using the pvc pipe idea make a gothic/medieval chandelier. In our garage setup this past Halloween, we had alot of tealights and candles for ambient lighting. The effect was great but it was a little too warm. With this idea in mind I hope to give light, an old world effect, and less of a fire hazard especially with little kids around. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions or if anyone has made one before. Any advice etc anyone could give would be great. Thanks!!

I love chandaliers. I used to always use one in my entrance until it broke last year. It looks like yours is a very easy and simple one to make. Good job

My idea is to construct maybe two and somehow suspend them from our garage's upper beams. I figure I could build them from wood and suspend each with those chains you can buy for hanging plants. I figure those chains can handle the weight. Right now I'm thinking wood construction unless someone knows something else I can construct with? I don't want to make them to heavy or too big that I can't store them!

Depending on the weight of the candles you could use foam and plastic chains.
I have one (similar) in progress and that is what I am using

You could use pink, you would just need to laminate a couple of pieces to get the thickness you like.
I am making mine out of a hula hoop, a idea I got from Supernatural, and tea lights held by plastic chains. But rigid foam, cut from a solid piece, would work the same. And you can detail the foam and give it a rustic look.
The candles holders I am using for the LED tea lights are some round small metal containers at the dollar store, in the wedding section six to a package, that I will use as a base to hold the LEDs. Then I will add some hot glue for candle drip effect.
I plan on finishing the build this weekend and I will post some pics when I can.

I have made a six candle chandelier using PVC candles w/flicker tealights. I used an old bicycle wheel rim, plastic chain, 3" wood discs to hold the candles.
You can just make it out in this pic
I was thinking of making this an how to, looks like there might be some interest ??

Found a website that sells all kinds of light products including a 10 bulb string flicker flame set. Even better is the cord is black. The link is below:
Flickering Flame String Lights, 10 C7 Bulbs, Black Wire from LightsForAllOccasions.com
I was just wondering if anybody had purchased anything from this site before? I think these lights could work and the price is around the same price as the ones I saw at Lowe's around x-mas time. If anyone knows of a site with cheaper alternative I'm all ears. Trying to watch the budget this year!!
