Hello Fellow Haunters...I need help!! I'm working on doing a Hellraiser theme this year and need help on how to do a few things. I know its a lot but I don't know where to start/begin. OK here is my delima.

I'm working on a Angelique costume and how do I get the raised/stretched skin effect on her shoulders?

How can I recreat the pillar of souls? I was thinking styrfoam and paint it?

I was thinking *and this might be a little much but would be GREAT* of doing a wall of souls trying to climb out or be released.

    Any suggestions...?

carving foam sounds like the best way to do both the pillar and the wall. There are a few tutorials on carving foam. I would love to see pics as you progress on these.

as for the skin, well, im a huge fan of latex for skin, but you could just make a form with wire and use paper mache. just a thought.

If I didn’t have the option of sculpting or using foam latex here is what I would try.
Get some plain liquid latex rubber and very smooth surface ( a child’s plastic plate or sheet of plexi-glass ) to brush it onto.
Brush on very thin layers (with even thinner edges) on to the flat smooth surface creating little oval discs.
When they dry, apply baby powder to the surface so it won’t stick to itself and peel them off.
Spirit gum just the edge of the disc (leaving the center unglued) and apply it to your skin. Blend the edges with tissue and more latex.
Now you can pierce the center of the disc with your hook of choice and attach.
Years ago I helped build a pillar and the Hellraiser engineer for a haunted attraction. The pillar was plywood with foam and sculpted greeblies attached to the outside but nowadays I would get some sheet foam from Lowes and build it our of that just to keep the weight down.
    Hope this helps.

For the stretched skin, get some large size nylons and affix them to an inner shirt. Then use small clamps to grab and raise the skin.

One feature about the post is it looks like there are things stuck in it. You can create that effect by cutting skulls and body parts at diaganal angles, then affixing it. Use Great Stuff as guts, spray paint red. Make each side as a detachable panel for easy storage.
Successfully scaring little kids since 1990.

I think the wall would be great if you could do the same as the door with pnuematics with the axes. Sorry, didn't follow the thread to remember the name. Anyways, make a wall with the stretch material over static props of skulls and such. Then in other places place skulls attached to pnuematics that will slowly push the skulls out toward the viewers like they are trying to escape. I've been thinking of the pillar myself for a few years. I would like to make one with thin boards and then have it on a rotating pedistal so will will go turn and people can see all sides without getting close to it. Just something I've been toying with. I also think a huge cube would be awsome with the center rotating like it's about to open. Please post pics so I can get some ideas of something in the future. :P

Thank you all for the ideas!! I LOVE the idea Growler on the pnuematics but have no clue how to do this? Is there a site I can go to, to get an idea on what I'm in for?
I'll post pictures when I get the project started. Maybe you can learn from my mistakes...LOL

Look at the video under Asylum Door Prop under props here. You will see the axe head come through the door material. Pnuematics aren't that hard to work with. The big hang up for me is the electrical side and activation. Don't bet on me learning from any mistakes. I'm a very slow learner. lol
