I am doing a mache skeleton to use as a almost sucked dry spider victim that will be part of a bigger scene.
Materials used so far:
Foam core poster board
backer rod
masking tape
magazine paper
Hanging wire
paper towel rolls
paper towels and napkins
And here is where I am at now.
More to follow.

Awesome looking prop, I had a spider victim slated for this year and have just change my whole way of thinking about the style.
Backer rod is cylinderical foam that comes in rolls, it's typically used to fill large gaps when caulking or plastering. You shold be able to get it at Home Depot."what is backer rod?"Obviously one must hold oneself responsible for the evil impulses of one's dreams. Sigmund Freud

Mr. U got it!
If you look at the ribs and the forearm, they were made from the rod.
It can be fouund around the door hardware section or you can get it from a paint supplier.
There are many sizes available from 1/4" up to 2"

Looks nice, love the victim being curled up in a fetal position. What happened to his feet though? Visible when you taped him up but they appear to have disappeared once you did the paper mache.

Nice catch!
I really did not care for the way the foot looked so I amputated.
Even though I was not really worried about accuracy, once I web it will hide the flaws, it just was not working for me. So I used my Artistic License and made a command decision.
