So, one of the halls in my haunt is covered in mirrors with only a strobe flashing. Last year, I had the ceiling basically covered, but I would love to do the floor as well/instead since mostly people didn't look up, only down and straight forward. I was wondering if a sheet of plexiglass over the mirror would protect it, or if I would have to set up a raised floor in addition. Also, would a sheet of plexi covered in window tint get the same effect?

Any help, thoughts, ideas are much appreciated.

The plexiglass would get scratched pretty fast and could be slippery.
Although I'm not sure exactly what your design is, could you just paint the floor (or plywood) with a silver metallic paint? Or even just white?

silver metallic paint might be ok. I'm really looking for the hall to be one giant inside-out disco ball. With a strobe.

The effect is really sorta mind numbing. In a good, freaky way.

it seems to me the easiest way would be to use a thin plexiglass say 1/4" thk and put the mirror film on the back and then directly on the floor. As long as there is no light comming from underneath it will look similar to a mirror and be cheaper. Ifyou want to elevate it then a thicker plexi glass would be required which would seem to be more expensive.

I went to a haunted house once were you had to crawl through a long dark tunnel then towards the end of the tunnel the craweled over a piece of plexiglass it was covering a tomb with a light in it a open coffin and a rotting corpse it seemed to hold up and was a really cool effect if you raise it up off mirrior you should have no propblem with plexi holding upi wolud think laying it on top though would smash mirrior

I've always liked the idea of using a Mirror Floor for the exit of a Haunt, but have never actually used it. Here's a good place to start -

I once saw a haunt that had a plexyglass floor and part of a wall with thousands of live rats and mice running in the space behind the plexiglass. it was very creepy.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I was through a haunt this past year that had a kid under plexiglass...Kind of freaked me out when the light came on and he was under my feet screaming.....Mostly because I weigh about 230 and the first thing I thought is what if it broke through ??!!.....ZR

these look like a good option. I think i'll order a dozen and see how they hold up under feet.

I was browsing on craigslist just now and found this:
    Mirrored Plexiglass
I've never heard of it before but I thought you might me interested in a similar product.
