I have several small, low voltage ac motors that replace bulbs in Christmas lights to spin ornaments. I would like to power them from a battery or DC source. Does anyone know of a way to do this? (cheaply is best)

I posed a similar question in this thread. You may find your answer there: Convert battery prop to plug-in

If they are truly an AC motor they won't run on DC.
You can use a transformer to get 3VAC ..
They're cheap and easy to solder to.

The transformer is a great idea. I would add two things. first: fuse protect the transformer, check the current draw on the motor and size the fuse accordingly. Second: the primary side of the transformer will be at line voltage (120VAC) that is enough to get yourself hurt or worse. Be careful. Keith
